our journey...
we both began our life with God in our late teens. encountering the Father's presence and knowing unconditional love for the first time catapulted us into an experience of, well, utopia. we each lived a life of joy beyond words, with a sense of purpose in the world and freedom from burdens we carried.
we became part of an authentic community of other believers, passionately pursuing Him with the same heart as ours. We would describe our life in Christ as 'abundant and to the full'.
then 'life 'happened.
that freedom and crazy joy we lived in at first started to leave as the pressures and pain of life came. while still pursuing God with all our hearts, we weren't experiencing a Christian life of passion, freedom and supernatural power, but rather one that was flat, (though well-behaved) and 'normal'.
(not the life i see the early church living in the book of Acts!)
By 'normal' i mean living with fear, depression, rejection and disappointments- (let's face it-like so many of us). Things gradually came to a head, and we got real with ourselves and with God. we asked some hard questions....
where did we get off the path? how did that happen?
over time, the journey led us to an understanding of how we lost our freedom and our first love...
